Tryout Selection Criteria
Players trying out for travel hockey are evaluated using the criteria outlined in the document below, which should be reviewed before tryouts. Selection is based on a player's ability to consistently demonstrate these skills during tryouts. Evaluators assess a player’s skating, puck control, shooting, passing, hockey sense, physical competitiveness, and overall attitude, both on and off the ice.
Travel hockey requires a higher level of play, so players must show strong fundamentals, the ability to perform under pressure, make good decisions in game situations, and compete effectively against other skilled players. While effort and enthusiasm are important, roster spots are earned by players who can clearly display the technical skills, awareness, and work ethic necessary to contribute positively to the team throughout the season.
